Gerard Baker
Gerard Baker is the editor-in-chief of Dow Jones and the ''Wall Street Journal''. Previously, he was U.S. editor and an assistant editor of the ''Times of London'' and worked in the ''Financial Times'' as Tokyo correspondent. He has covered economics for the BBC and worked as an economist for several banks. Baker says that although he was on the left during his university years, he subsequently moved toward the right.〔 Media critic David Carr of the ''New York Times'' described Baker as "a neoconservative columnist of acute political views."〔David Carr, (Under Murdoch, Tilting Rightward at The Journal ) (December 13, 2009), ''New York Times''.〕 Carr wrote that under Baker's leadership, the ''Wall Street Journal'' had an ideological slant "baked into the coverage through headlines, assignments and editing in a way that had never occurred in the past."〔
